And here we have a link to the Garmin 310XT give away over at DC Rainmaker. It serves as an entry into the give away. Anyone out there who could use a free Garmin toy should give it a try. I know I could.

RR: Top Gun Triathlon
Overall 1:23:36
Swim 12:27
T 14:38
Bike 28:20 (14th of 89 in age group, personal PR on this course)
T1 2:12
Run 36:00
Overall - I'm beyond disappointed in my time but there were a lot of factors that went into this. My leg is on the mend, yeah! But it's only on the mend so I really should not have run the beach 5K the night before. That cost me 5 minutes on the run, easy.
Swim - 12:27 for 440yds? That's slow for even me. It was very sloppy swim but I swim in open water all the time and this was way off my standard 1/2 mile pace. All the swim times are slower this year so something was up for sure. I swam as hard as I could, focused long strokes and keeping my head down. That's all I can do.
T1 - we had to run through a tidal pool that was 3 feet deep at points. Got caught behind a bunch of people walking. Can't blame them because the bottom was mucky, slippery and had some shells. Still lots bunches of time.
Bike - Rocked it. 28:20 for 10 miles. All those roadie rides are paying off. PR for me on this course. Many thanks to Green Cycling Guy. We played tag around the course which pushed us both to our limits. He actually thanked me at the start of the run. Now if I can only learn to mount/dismount faster, my bike computer reading (27:58) will match the race time.
T2 - Oxygen debt. Ran down the wrong isle, couldn't find my row. Just a clusterf$@!. Still managed to beat Green Cycling Guy out of transition.
Run - NOTHING HURT!!! WOOOHOOO!! Tweaking my bike position (up and forward a bit) really made a difference. My runs off the bike have been the most painful but not today. Nothing! I was very excited and Green Cycling Guy encouraged me to chase once again. But when I went to drop the hammer I realized the hammer was rusting on the course of last night's beach 5K (31:33). My reasons for doing that race were complicated. If I had known how good I was going to feel coming off the bike on Saturday, I would have begged off. Still, there's no crying over spilled milk. Just get 'er done and NO WALKING. The heat index was 100ish under cloudless skies, in the dunes so the breeze took a break. Last half of the 5K was on sand (because 5K on sand Friday night was not enough). Every time a walking athlete crossed my path, I would say "no walking, run with me". Seven runners took me up on my offer. Three passed me. That's all I can ask on a tough day.
My still leg feels good today. This makes me happy and gives me hope for the Hammerhead Olympic Tri at the end of August.
Off for a recovery ride.
