Big Day Saturday

Saturday marks an important day in my triathlon history.

Shawn
bravely returns to triathlon after a disastrous first race. If
she hates the sport after Top Gun Tri, there's nothing I can do.
She's still suckered into doing Suncoast Tri in October because Lisa
Limper is coming down. BWAHAHAHAHAHA! :) Seriously, Shawn, good luck.
You've got a better bike, nicer course, and I will make sure there is
beer at the finish line.

And my husband Joe will toe the line in his first, and probably only,
tri. It's been a long time coming and, no matter what, he'll have fun
on the bike. In a worst case scenarion, he'll fall in love with
triathlon and our budget will suddenly get much tighter. :)

This makes 3 newbie inductions in one year. Quite a rewarding year for
me. Remember kids, you can never leave The Firm! :)

Linae
p.s. Oh yeah, and I'm racing too. Back to the Athena class for me.
While it's a bitter sweet return, I'm looking forward to racing with
the fun girls.

Doberman Bedtime

Tonight is the first night where I've stayed up late without having other people in the house.

Did you know that Jet feels 9pm is the appropriate doberman bedtime, unless there are other activities? Neither did I but she's happily sleeping on her bed in our bedroom. At first she made several protests because I would not honor her choice by going to bed at the same time. She seems to be over it now.

Speaking of other activities...Jet was invited to the neighbor's house last night for our weekly screening of Top Gear. I love this show and so does Jet. Just look:

Clearly a girl after my own heart. Fast cars rock!

3 miles

I ran 3 miles AFTER work today despite rain and thunderstorms that cleared just in time to make the Friendship Trail a steam bath. Where is my medal?

Please Welcome Jet

Welcome Jet to the Teranna pack.

After almost exactly two years...

Jet is a 10 year old female doberman. She was abandoned by her family because the boyfriend/girlfriend broke up, had to move, and "could" not find a condo that would take such a big dog. Fortunately, the two minpins made the convenience cut.

-----
UPDATE: No break up. Jet's mom of 10 years simply moved to northern Florida with her boyfriend and could not find a condo that would take such a big dog. Um...yeah...they couldn't keep Jet because there were no places to live in northern Florida that accepted large dogs...um...yeah...fellow Floridians need not comment.
-----

Their loss is our gain.

Welcome home, Jet....

With her foster dad, Ted. Foster Mom Mary was too shy for a photo.

Meeting new friends. Unlike Nikki, Jet is NOT dog aggressive. In fact, she just wants to be left alone and will submit if that means she can have her "alone time".

Checking out the new digs

Chillin' with her new pappa

Yes, it's been a long day.

Jet is 10 years old. She could be with us for 6 months or 5 years. We're happy to have her for as long as she wants to be here. Her health demands that she loses weight. Right now she weighs 101 pounds on a frame that should hold a 70lb dobe. But her foster parents have said she is so much more active with us, where she is the only dog. We hope the weight comes off soon.

The space in my heart feels less empty.

Fellowship of Iron

It was SO GREAT to meet up with Brent in Grand Cayman today. He is a
generous, kind host with great local insight. My only regret is that
we did not have more time to hang out. Cruise ships departure times
are rather strict.

We found each other by wearing our Ironman hats. How cool is that?
I've seen other tourists with shirst from the Green Parrot in Key
West, Sunset Grill in St. Augustine, and other ports of call but Brent
and I were the only Ironman finishers wearing bling at lunch. :)

Cruising!

That's right, my sweetie and I are headed out on a Caribbean cruise this evening. We'll be in Grand Cayman on Tuesday before heading over to Cozumel, Belize and Honduras. Should be fun!
